Outdoor Vinyasa Flow, 60min - Tuileries, LEFT GROVE

This class is taught by:

Katie Ribas

French speaking
Katie is from Denver, CO and was brought appropriately to Paris, the city of love, in 2013 by following her heart and marrying a Frenchman.
Off the yoga mat, she is a member of a wall-climbing club, which has enabled her to pursue outdoor rock climbing and bouldering. She also holds a master’s degree in opera performance, and still performs from time to time in addition to teaching regular music foundation classes to children.

She has been a certified yoga teacher since 2012 when she completed a 200-hour program with Core Power Yoga, a Yoga Alliance registered studio. She later finished training programs with Next Generation Yoga for Kids, to share her practice with younger yoginis, and The Institut de Gasquet for pre and post-natal yoga.

During her yoga classes, one can expect to have a light hearted and playful session while maintaining the integrity of yogic tradition. She purposefully centers each class around a theme, encouraging everyone, including herself, to take the practice deeper than the physical level and to take what they have gained during the session out the door with them. Benjamin Hart

Benjamin is a Texas-Born World-Resident with a life-long relationship to movement and energy. A student of theater, dance, and gymnastics since the age of four, his yoga practice initially blossomed in the sand and sun of Barcelona where his ‘Beach Bikram’ classes took off.  Having lived in Los Angeles and New York City, Benjamin gainined his RYT 200hr Yoga Teacher certificate in Dallas, and came straight to Paris following Love and Life's Adventures.

For Benjamin, yoga is truly a practice of Union with ourselves, with each other, and with the Divine, resonant in All. His classes utilize the flowing pace of traditional Vinyasa technique with an infusion of his studies as a modern day Urban Shaman focusing on the inner journey, energy harmonization, and intentional manifestation. Beginners will love his accessible approach while experienced yogis are certainly in for something refreshing and new.

The format for Benjamin’s classes has been well-described as ‘Rainbow Yoga’, meaning that the seven Chakra energy centers within each of our bodies are the foundation and focus of his series. These resonating energetic vortexes are paired with appropriate traditional yoga postures to awaken and purify the physical as well as energy bodies. The seven Elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Sound, Light and Thought are also incorporated for a joyful time of self-healing, counterbalance, and exploration of the infinite Here and Now.

While it may sound different from the standard class structure, students find Benjamin’s offering as a delightful addition to their regular yoga practice and an excellent opportunity to expand their daily routine.

Ben Beirs

Ben has been practicing yoga and meditation since his teenage years, when he was introduced to the practice by his father, who owned a yoga studio in Philadelphia. While enrolled at Peabody Conservatory to study classical guitar, he spent a summer at the Omega Institute, where he had a life-changing experience in meeting Lama Surya Das, a lama in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, with whom he has undertaken numerous silent meditation retreats.

Ben moved to Paris in the summer of 2013 and soon discovered Affordable Yoga in Paris. Resolving shortly after to take a yoga teacher training in order to strengthen his practice, he completed a 200-hour RYT in July 2014 at the Asheville Yoga Center in Asheville, NC.

In addition to yoga, Ben is passionate about music, regularly giving concerts as well as sharing his improvisations and songs in yoga and meditation classes. Gillian Grant

Gillian is an American Yoga (500 RYT) and Ballet Barre teacher living in Paris for over a decade. Yoga became a major part of her life after giving birth to her son over 10 years ago. Her practice has helped to maintain balance in her personal and professional life. Teaching for Gillian is a way to help others also find balance in the often hectic urban environment. Also, as a student and practitioner of Ayurvedic medicine, Gillian finds much joy in working with homeopathy as an alternative way of healing that is complementary to modern medicine. As a Reiki master, she has practiced the healing arts through touch and the redirection of energy in the body.

Gillian completed her first Yoga training (200 RYT) at the Sivananda Ashram in Orleans, France. The Sivananda style is very traditional Hatha with a major focus on meditation and spirituality. Hatha is a slow and steady practice that helps build a strong body and mind while focusing on the breath and energy centers of the body. She completed her Kundalini Yoga training with 3HO, the association formed by the Guru Yogi Bhajan to bring the practice of Kundalini to the West. Kundalini Yoga is called the Yoga of Awareness. It is a dynamic, powerful tool that is designed to give you an experience of your soul.

Gillian's most recent training (300 RYT) was at The Association for Yoga and Meditation (AYM) in Rishikesh, India. Her Yoga specializations include: Hatha Flow, Vinyasa, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Power Yoga and Kundalini. She is also certified in Yoga Therapy and Ayurvedic massage.

In 2015, Gillian completed her Ballet Barre training with BarreConcept and world-renowned teacher Emma Newham. Gillian's Ballet Barre and Barre au Sol (Floor Barre) are a mixture of traditional Ballet foot and arm positions, HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), Pilates, Yoga and Bootcamp. Her classes are dynamic, positive, and fun with upbeat music and will leave you feeling strong in your entire body and ready to take on the world!
The purpose of a Vinyasa class is to link the traditional yoga asanas / postures together into a harmonious flow of transitioning positions while giving focus to active meditation. This could be considered a more 'active' class than our Hatha offerings. It is dynamic yet soft in nature, and relaxation is often reserved to the end of the session. The sequence of postures will vary from class to class, building on the fluid transitions of core asanas to develop strength, flexibility, balance and focus.
This class is held in English, most of our teachers do speak some French, don't hesitate to ask for help understanding.
