Hi I'm Paul.
Very happy to be part of the Affordable Yoga & Fitness family, thought my domain is primarily fitness.
 
I am a competitive athlete specializing in Ironman Triathlon events. Having 15 years experience and training, I understand very well the importance of increasing your strength through functional bodyweight training. It enriches your life, improves your sports results and makes you ooze the kind of confidence only strong, healthy and energetic people can exude. And for this reason I am a big advocate of body weight strength training. 

I teach the Outdoor Bootcamps in the Park as I love being in the nature, getting your heart rate up, working your body to its maximum limit to achieve your goals.

My style is supportive and encouraging as I love making everyone feel included and welcome, while pushing them to their limits to increase physical fitness and confidence.

Ellen McQueen

Ellen McQueen arrived in Paris June of 2015 after graduating from New York
University with a degree in Creative Writing and Literature. She pursued her passion for literature by working on a fiction book, spending too much time at Shakespeare & Co, and writing articles.

From Paris she was able to explore her love of travel, having now
visited countries in Europe, Africa, and a bit of the Middle East. Her enthusiasm for yoga began as a freshman in a Connecticut boarding school, and followed her to New
York City where she lived for five years.

In February 2017 she had the opportunity toparticipate in a 200 hour ashtanga vinyasa teacher training course in Goa, India with
Kranti Yoga. What began as an alternative to a high school sports requirement has become for Ellen an integral part of maintaining a healthy body, mind, and soul. In New York
City yoga was the perfect reprieve from the chaotic and oftentimes toxic metropolitan life, and in Paris it has provided her with an amazing community and a platform to build
strength and independence.

In an effort to combine a love of art with yoga, Ellen’s classes are typically
centered around a quote from poetry, literature, an artist, etc, and aim to follow a related theme throughout. Each class is intended to be as equally beneficial for the mind and soul as it is for the body. She enjoys variation, learning / incorporating new postures,
and lots of movement following breath. She’s happy to grab a coffee after class and enjoy conversation about yoga, literature, art, travel, history, etc

Eliza Sweeney

French speaking
Eliza moved to Paris in 2009 to further her training as an actress specializing in clown, mime, acrobatics and physical theatre.

Eliza grew up in Melbourne, Australia surfing, sailing, running, swimming, and all-round being outdoors. As a youth she competed as a gymnast in Victoria and afterwards moved towards soccer, hockey and netball. Realizing to her dismay that ball sports were not her forte, she was drawn to long distance running, athletics and rowing.

It was the boot camp style fitness training that she received that she loved the most. She loves to motivate people to achieve their goals, improve their well being and overall fitness and health. She is passionate about fitness and health, currently also training as a drama therapist, a vegetarian herself, and is keen to share this passion with others through her boot camp classes!

Students can expect a group training program that focuses on a full body work out including cardio and strength training. The group atmosphere will accomodate those who need that extra motivation to work out, complimented with the great social aspect.

An actress to the core, you can be sure that Eliza’s classes will be well animated!

If you like the feeling of the positive rush of endorphins through the body- this class is for you!!
We all gain a little extra in winter and dread the onset of summer so why not keep up a regular work out all year with the INDOOR BOOTCAMP CLASS!

Its main focus is fat burning and toning of all muscle groups to make you feel lean and confident.You don't have to be super fit to participate - all levels welcome. This class is designed in such a way that can be adopted to each individual ability without affecting the group. If you are starting on your journey to better fitness or are already very sporty and want to increase your performance by cross training, this class will be equally beneficial in getting you to your goal.

We will focus on body weight resistance training with exercises that are designed to engage maximum number of muscles in one movement, and mimic your natural functional movement patterns and hence develop your strength and fitness that would be useful in improving your quality of life (as opposed to isolated gym equipment exercises that only work on a few muscles at a time and often make you work in superficial range of motion that is rarely utilised in your day-to-day life.)

We will also do some cardio training which will be different to outdoor classes - designed to improve your heart-centered fitness as well as increase your body's fat burning capability during, and even after your workout. This will involve running, jumping, skipping, kick boxing and dancing.

To increase its effectiveness even further by keeping your muscles and joints supple, - the class will start and finish with a yoga warm up and cool down and deep guided relaxation to help you regenerate and become stronger faster.

We will focus on arms, shoulder and back strengthening, abs and butts training, stretching for suppleness and flexibility and mood boosting moves to brighten up our day through the winter!

An indoor bootcamp class is great for those who wish to stay fit and in shape over winter!!
This class is held in English, most of our teachers speak some French, don't hesitate to ask for help understanding.

WHAT TO WEAR
-Comfortable clothes that don't restrict movement
-This class is practiced in running shoes

*Showers and designated changing facilities available only at Studio Bleu in 75009; all other indoor locations have restroom facilities available for changing.

-Mat or towel (there are no mats available to borrow in the spaces)

Mats can be delivered to our classes in the locations in 75001 (St. Roch), 75015 (Etienne Pernet) and 75009 (Studio Bleu). Once ordered, email help@affordableyogafitness.com, and let us know during which class and at which location you would like to pick up your mat. Please bring your receipt to the class. In some cases a few days notice may be needed to make sure the mat is at the class, so we appreciate your patience if and when this happens.

CLASS LEVEL
This class is open to every level of practitioner from beginners on up. Our instructors give careful guidance to ensure that everyone is comfortable in the foundation of the posture, and modifications to increase or decrease the intensity of each position will be available. Feel free to ask for modifications.

*Please note that there is limited mobile phone reception at the studios. If you need to contact the instructor, please do so at least 20 minute before the start of class. Since our teachers will be busy checking in students with their personal smartphones starting 15 minutes before class, please send a text as opposed to calling as they will most likely not be able to take a call. No communication will be possible after the start time of class.

HEALTH SCREENING
Please notify your instructor if you have undergone any recent surgeries or are currently experiencing any physical injuries. While yoga has many very beneficial health effects, we want to know how to best work with each of our student’s individual restrictions. Please consult a doctor if you have any personal concerns about practicing yoga or fitness.
