Nadine

French speaking

Nadine, originally from Montpellier in the South of France, has been living in Paris for 20 years. Passionate about languages and traveling, she has had the chance to visit, live, and work in several different countries.

Always curious about discovering and experiencing the different forms of movement, she has practiced Ballet, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Flamenco as well as Kung Fu and Capoeira. To Nadine, our bodies are extraordinary tools for expression, and sometimes it just takes some time and practice to find our own.

By chance, she discovered Nia through a workshop in 2012 and she instantly loved it! Within one single Nia class, one can dance, practice martial arts, have fun, express oneself in a safe and non-judgmental environment, and get a taste of Yoga and relaxation. So, in 2015, she earned her White Belt to be able to teach, and she started the extraordinary adventure of sharing Nia with students.

What does she like most when teaching Nia? To communicate her joy of dancing to the students, to provide them with the freedom of moving in their own ways, and to see the smiles lighting up their faces.

Nadine instructs the following:
  • Nia Movement - 60min - Bilingual

  • Nia is a sensory-based fitness class and lifestyle practice inspired by dance, martial arts and healing arts. Nia that makes room for the unique spirit of every individual, including emotions and the mind as part of the workout.

    By embracing the gifts of the healing arts, we embody sensation, the backdrop upon which all of our practice takes place. Martial arts and meditative techniques teach mindfulness, a powerful tool for self-discovery. Dance arts teach how to move with grace and fluidity. improves functioning.

    Nia engages people’s hearts, giving them permission to play and more intimately connect with themselves and with others. It encourages inner exploration and self-discovery and guides students to move through their own unique, infinitely creative space.

    Nia is low impact, practiced barefoot, and adaptable to individual needs and abilities. No previous dance experience is necessary, everybody is welcome.

    No yoga mat is required for this class. This class is taught in English and French.


    WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING

    CLASS LEVEL
    Can be adapted to all levels from beginner to advanced, so all levels are welcome at all classes. The instructor will demonstrate all exercises in detail and give different options for participants of different levels.

    Please notify your instructor if you have undergone any recent surgeries or are currently experiencing any physical injuries. While yogic bootcamp has many very beneficial health effects, we want to know how to best work with each of our student’s individual restrictions. Please consult a doctor if you have any personal concerns about practicing this type of physical fitness.
     

  • Dance and Relaxation - 60min
  • It has been proven that dance elevates your mood, helps decrease anxiety and stress, burns calories, strengthens and tones muscle areas and improves over all well being. This class offers 30 minutes of invigorating dance followed by 30 minutes of relaxation and meditation. This class is for all levels - you do not need to know how to dance and you do not need any background in any dance technique. The class offers a mix of choreographed moves & free dance derived from various styles. For those looking to lose weight, tone up or just have a good time, this is the class for you ! Following the dance component of the class, the teacher offers 30 minutes of relaxation. Through relaxation we will learn to connect to deep breath and calm the body and the mind and to be in the present moment.

    WHAT TO WEAR
    -Comfortable clothes that don't restrict movement
    -This class is generally practiced barefoot

    *Showers and designated changing facilities available only at Studio Bleu in 75009; all other indoor locations have restroom facilities available for changing.

    WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU
    -Mat or towel (there are no mats available to borrow in the spaces)
    -Water Bottle
    -Optional - Yoga props - blocks, straps, cushions, etc

    Mats can be delivered to our classes in the locations in 75001 (St. Roch), 75015 (Etienne Pernet) and 75009 (Studio Bleu). Once ordered, email help@affordableyogafitness.com, and let us know during which class and at which location you would like to pick up your mat. Please bring your receipt to the class. In some cases a few days notice may be needed to make sure the mat is at the class, so we appreciate your patience if and when this happens.

    CLASS LEVEL
    This class is open to every level of practitioner from beginners on up. Our instructors give careful guidance to ensure that everyone is comfortable in the foundation of the posture, and modifications to increase or decrease the intensity of each position will be available. Feel free to ask for modifications.
